Tiltxt Pattern File Format (created 1998-05-25 updated 2003-13-06) ========================== The azimuth and elevation patterns are stored in separate files, e.g.: TA-2350-T4.az.txt TA-2350-T4.el.txt They consist of 2 title lines, 1 blank line, 1 column heading line, followed by 2 columns representing angle in degrees and relative gain. A partial sample is shown below: ----- TA-2350-T4 Elevation Pattern Angle Relative Gain (dB) -180.0 -39.8 -179.0 -35.7 : 178.0 -27.3 179.0 -33.2 180.0 -39.8 ----- The maximum relative gain is 0 dB. The angles are defined as follows: With the antenna mounted vertically, (1) the elevation pattern angles are such that from the antenna, 0 degrees is upward, and 90 degrees is frontward, and (2) the azimuth pattern angles are such that 0 degrees is frontward and 90 degrees is leftward. For antennas with downtilt, the azimuth pattern is at the downtilt angle. However, in most cases there is no significant difference between that and the azimuth pattern in the horizontal plane. For antennas that may be mounted for either vertical (VPOL) or horizontal (HPOL) polarization (termed "directional" antennas in the TIL-TEK catalogue), the patterns are for the antenna mounted to produce vertical polarization. In such cases, the HPOL patterns can be obtained from the VPOL ones by interchanging the azimuth and elevation patterns.
