Job Summary:
Spotwave Wireless Ltd, a leader in in-building wireless communications technology is seeking to fill a position in Kemptville for a Director of Research and Development, with a background in commercial product development and an in-depth knowledge of wireless communications systems. The preferred candidate must have total of 12 to 15 years of experience and at least 6 years in an R&D/Engineering management position. Should have strong communications skills and be able to multi-task effectively. This role will involve the day to day management of the R&D/Engineering teams including antenna, hardware, software and mechanical R&D / Engineering professionals. A key aspect of this position is providing technical support to other functional areas, including Sales, Marketing, Customer Service and Operations.

In this role, the candidate must have the following skills
• BSEE/MSEE degree (Masters preferred).
• Minimum of 12 years R&D experience and 6 years experience in the management of multi-disciplinary R&D / Engineering teams.
• Systems level technical expertise in cellular and broadband wireless communications systems.
• Experience in the development of commercial products from requirements capture through to volume production.
• A thorough, hands on knowledge of hardware / RF design processes.
• Experience with in medium volume manufacture and production.
• Thorough understanding and commitment to project management and formal product architecture and development processes.
• Be energetic and posses exceptional communication skills (written and verbal English).Excel at working with closely with internal and external customers
• Product Architecture and design expertise
• Project management experience
Desirable skills would include:
• Knowledge of Antenna Design / Engineering.
• Knowledge of telecoms carrier and regulatory approvals processes
• Experience in offshore design and development centers, software design and development knowledge will be an added advantage
• Experience in working across multiple time-zones
